Using LinQ: There are just two buttons, UP and DOWN. Tap for on-off, hold to adjust (dim up or down).
Mounting LinQ Remote: LinQ comes with special clear 3M Command™ Adhesive Strips. They hold like iron, then come off when you pull the tab. They leave no mark, blemish or residue.
Linking and Unlinking: A LinQ remote and its packaged receiver are already linked, but you can add (or remove) more receivers or remotes to the system. Screw the receiver into the lamp socket and turn the power on. When the remote is held close to the receiver and both its buttons are held down for 3-5 seconds, the two become linked. If they are already linked, they become unlinked. Multiple lights can be controlled with a combination of multiple remotes.
Paging Flasher: Tap both buttons together and the light(s) begin flashing. Use it to page your family or alert them when help is needed. Touching any button stops the flashing.
Q: How big is the Link remote?
LinQ's patented tiny remote is 1.2" long by 0.6" wide and only 0.2" thick.
Q: How big is the Link screw-in adapter?
LinQ’s patented adapter is the shortest in the industry, by far. It raises the bulb only 1/2".
Q: Can I dim all light bulbs?
Only dimmable bulbs. Most CFLs and some LED bulbs are marked “non-dimmable.” All incandescent and halogen bulbs are dimmable.
Q: What wattage bulbs will Linq take?
Five to 100 Watts (actual wattage).
Q: Besides the screw-in adapter and the LED lightbulb, what other types of receivers do you have?
MagicLux will be developing receivers in a wall-switch replacement, a plug-in receptacle, a night light and a lamp socket.
Q: Can I use the Linq with a 3-way light bulb?
Yes, but only the middle wattage will be used.
Q: How many remotes can control one bulb?
Up to 32.
Q: How many bulbs can be controlled by one remote?
No limit.
Q: What combinations of bulbs and remotes are supported?
Any combination.
Q: What happens if a bulb receives contradictory commands from different remotes?
Commands are executed in the order received.
Q: What happens if there is a power failure?
The light comes back on at the same brightness as before.
Q: Does Linq save energy?
Yes. When users have instant finger-tip lighting control, on average lights are off or dimmed more.
Q: In an apartment building, can one Linq interfere with another?
No. Every Linq remote has a different serial number it transmits with its commands. There are a billion serial numbers.
Q: If I use Linq to set bulbs flashing in different rooms, won’t they eventually get out-of-step?
No. Linq’s proprietary system keeps them flashing in perfect synchrony forever.
Q: How far can the remote be from the bulb?
About 50 feet, depending on conditions. Linq transmits at the maximum allowable power.
Q: When I turn off a light, does Linq give me time to leave the room?
Yes. Linq gradually extinguishes the light over a 20-second period. (A second “off” tap will extinguish it immediately.)
Q: How close to a bulb do I have to hold the remote to link or unlink with it?
About 2-3 feet. Just hold both buttons 3 seconds.
Q: How do I know if linking or unlinking has been successful?
The bulb will flash an acknowledgement. Or you can just test if the remote works.
Q: Do I need to know all this to use Linq?
Definitely not. You will find Linq very intuitive. We put lots of smarts on the inside to keep it simple on the outside.
Q: Can I control the LinQ adapters with my smartphone?
You don't need a smartphone or internet to control any LinQ adapters. Smartphone control may be added in the future, but you will still be able to control your lights with your LinQ remote.
